Damn this is like you printed his pre-written obituary and not just an article about a not totally remarkable guy leaving a tv show after being there for eights years and never having any sort of breakout performance or character.

I appreciate the effort put into this obituary, but Bennett was too prone to stretches of fumbling pickups and cuecard eyes for me to put him down as a great technician, and in too damn many sketches for me to put him down as unsung.

I liked him fine, but this has been a pretty weak group of male cast members (not my favorite cast overall, but I think the women on balance have been better), and the fact that he was probably the best one sort of reinforces that, in my opinion.

I think my favorite Bennett sketch is the Safelite Autoglass commercial spoof. It’s dark and something I wish the show would lean into a tiny bit more often than playing it safe all the time. It got pulled because Safelite complained to SNL.

Alas Beck without Mooney=awesome, Mooney without Beck=no thanks.

This isn’t funny.

The theory I heard is that during the pandemic Bennett settled down in LA and now he now plans to live there permanently, and it just wasn’t worth the hassle to shuffle between LA and New York constantly. I believe his wife is an actress, and it’s probably better for her career to live out there, and I imagine Bennett…

And YouTube has been fantastic for the show as well.

My mistake! Two of the three new cast members are white, and two of the three are male, and I got mixed up. You’re right — only one white dude. Getting it fixed.

“2 of the 3 new cast members are white guys.” Pretty sure Aristotle Athari is of Middle Eastern descent. Way to yadda yadda that and just toss him off as “another white guy.”

I think this was one of my favorite Beck Bennett sketches on the show.
