licensed lightning charge cables can be found for $5 on amazon and that includes shipping. That is the same price for other types of charge cables. I don’t see apple making much money on lightning powered headphones.

That’s right! Apple could feature my gloss black 1958 vintage BMW with a matching gloss black iPhone 7, riding down a mountain road in the rain, with Jonny Ive doing a voice over. It’s perfect!

Well some people get caught in the rain and their pants pocket might get wet. If it rains, I have to stop and unmount my iPhone from my motorcycle which is used for GPS navigation. Now I can leave it there if it starts to drizzle. Making electronics water resistant is certainly a useful feature.

While that is true, your iPhone 5 is not waterproof.

I mentioned the brand because not many others offer these docks. But most cars do offer USB digital audio in. Which is way cheaper than my custom dock which you have to buy new each time a new form factor comes out.

So, you want me to repeat what we all saw in the Keynote address? If you haven’t watched it, you should, so you can at least understand why apple ditched the analog plug before everyone else did. (hint: lightning cable supplies not just digital audio but power as well, all in one cable)

My iPhone plugs into a BMW-designed docking port in my center console that keeps the phone charged while porting the music digitally to my stereo which keeps the audio sounding much better than if you used an analog headphone jack. You are doing it wrong! The new iPhone isn’t for you. Its for the rest of us.
