I too have a sub to Overland Journal, and enjoy it for what it is—a faintly ridiculous but entertaining record of white middle class guys playing around with new camping gear, and taking semi-vintage trucks on ‘expeditions’ that are about as arduous as driving down the corner shop.

I’d take the kit any time. Who wants a bike that looks like every other boring CB1000R on the road?

I have an Akorp too. It’s brilliant.

We have a 2003 model Allroad that we bought 5 years ago with 170,000 km on the clock. It now has 315,000 on the clock. Depreciation over 5 years and 145,000 km has been $14,000, or $2,800 a year. Mileage from the turbo-diesel engine is fantastic considering the size and performance of the car.

Has Mr Goldfine actually examined Aether gear? Alluding to looking cool or ‘hipsters’ is a form of reverse snobbery. Aether sells highly effective gear that also looks good, and it fits right out of the box.

Comment Of The Year.

Not to mention the Firestones. That's always a dead cert to get the greybeards fizzing at the bung hole.

Thank you sir!

Much as I like Speedhunters, I've often wondered just what the hell their business model is.

+1

Thank you, and you're welcome. It's a great field to work in! Cheers, Chris

Bill Webb's CBR … it missed the cut by the finest of whiskers.

Unfortunately we didn't get the chance to run that one. If we had, I reckon it would have been a contender.

We decided not to include the BMW Project Japan bikes—or the Husqvarna concepts—because we never ran individual bike profiles on those machines. So it was nearly impossible to figure out any kind of scores.

That was #11 in the stats. Missed by a whisker.

I absolutely LOVE his work. He was kind enough to send us some wallpapers in the early days of EXIF:

The ergos on the two Triumphs and the Harley Dyna are the same as the factory bikes, and the Guzzi and Cafe Racer Dreams BMW are only slightly modified.

The Magni was in the top 20, easily. It's one of my personal favorites too.

I know the Supercompressor guys and those numbers seem right to me.
