It was also a love story! (one of the best films)

It absolutely is far less mean-spirited.

But that’s NOT what I’m saying at all. In fact, that’s my one nitpick from Jesse Cox’s video.

So I guess the MMO entries aren’t really Final Fantasy either?

I’ll argue that the original Casino Royale is a great James Bond film”

I’m enjoying FF16 alright, but I think the consternation is not over the quality of the game itself, but rather, what does it mean to be a Final Fantasy game? And I find the answer in this article unsatisfactory: it’s not just the story. Or that it has a story, as is the case with FF16. The shift in the mechanics over

Oh come on. This is such a grasp for straws example.

I think it should be divisive, but not for the reasons everyone says. Action gameplay as a concept is not the problem. The series has been veering towards it forever. It’s that everything is so dull.

Yes it is. You menioned Bond, and that’s in my wheelhouse so...

“Not wanting FF to be an action series is gatekeeping” is a pretty horrible and mean-spirited argument, I have to say. That’s really scraping the bottom of the barrel.

“Everything can be only one thing forever

Yeah, just like how Resident Evil 5 and 6 were the best-selling games in the series for almost a decade.

For others, the pinnacle took shape in the late ‘90s and early ‘00s with what many fans in my generation refer to as the “big three,” VII, VIII and IX.

Is anybody saying they want Final Fantasy to be stagnant? People seem to be criticizing the specific changes, not the idea of it changing in general.

The funny thing is that I am a massive Monster Hunter fan, and I’ve enjoyed the Bayonetta and Ninja Gaiden games. To me, FFXVI does not scratch the same itch as those three series do when it comes to action games. I don’t play those games for some 20+ hours of story cutscenes. The action is the point. I don’t play

i’m having fun with the game and all but anyone complaining this isn’t final fantasy is correct

if the next CoD came out as a Dynasty Warriors style hack ‘n slash, CoD fans would be rightfully upset

i personally don’t mind the shift in gameplay style, but i get why people may not enjoy that. and it’s not just that “the

A 20 paragraph opinion peice on why people should not have opinions on a beloved 35 year old series.

If the next James Bond movie is a rom-com, is it actually a *James Bond* movie?
If the next Song of Ice and Fire book is a hard sci-fi action romp, is it actually a *Song of Ice and Fire* book?
If the next Final Fantasy RPG game is an action game, is it actually a *Final Fantasy* game?

I don’t “hate” the game, I’m just passing on it (and a bit disappointed that a series I’ve played for decades has left me behind. But that’s the nature of change, whether it’s games, or authors, or bands.) The key thing for me is that, no matter how “Final Fantasy” it is story-wise...

Judging by Steam hardware surveys, that’s not true at all. The majority of PC gamers use Intel and Nvidia hardware. AMD-sponsored games tend to be disadvantageous to both Intel and Nvidia users, which means AMD-sponsorship is a negative for most PC gamers.
