Not where I was going with that.  Nepotism is where I was going.

Straight to racism, nice.

*fart*

They did that.  This was literally the equivalent of a typo that caused this issue, in that the tested version that was supposed to be deployed wasn’t, and a different version was.  It’s honest human error.  Shit happens.

Yep, and half a day of testing would have caught it.  It sucks, but it was earned.

Eh, I have little patience for a game dev who launches a game in a sorry state.  Test it, and delay if you need.  Don’t launch a subpar product.  This wasn’t a case of a tiny % of folks having issues due to some odd hardware.

This is really bad luck! They are really unfortunate that among all the half-baked, broken, barely working, deeply flawed and practically unfinished games which are released nowadays their perfectly polished game was met with negative reaction due to a single file error.

“The fans are my priority.”

Or they wouldn’t obey the rules that Nintendo set out for events.

Yeah, just reading the updates. They apparently knew they’d be shutdown since last year because they were unlicensed with Nintendo, but Nintendo had already given them one year to sort things out with them. That year is up. They wanted to keep running it unlicensed.  I’m guessing that they couldn’t reach an agreement

He’s not just the manager on the project, he is the CEO of the whole company. If a CEO thinks that it’s fun to do crunch and you do it for “love” then you can bet that the rest of the company is rotten and/or miserable...

“Anyone who knows me” is suspiciously the same way people tend to start their “I’m not racist” apoligies. Also love his immediate contradiction between praising the team for long hours, then saying they don’t value long hours. So, you don’t value the work the team is putting in is what you make it sound like.

Thats not really on you man. In fact as a polite fan of this game I think you’re probably the victim.

Aye but that was predominantly among Smash 4 & Ultimate players. A lot of the big names of Melee came out fairly unscathed saved for one commentator.

Because it was like a year ago where there were broad discussions being had about sexual misconduct. That's not a very long time.

It’ll be 3. Nintendo will never support modded versions of their games, and if they ever add GameCube games to Switch Online it won’t be for a very long time, probably not until they release the next generation Switch.

Nintendo probably sees this primarily as a marketing opportunity to sell more copies of Ultimate.

. Players will first compete in online qualifying rounds, followed by in-person qualifiers “once large-scale events return.” Winners will then be invited to the grand finals later in the year

Can’t think of any big-name current Melee players involved in any of the more serious cases. Most everybody who was a problem has been removed from the scene, including commentators.

Part of me is impressed that Nintendo is actually acknowledging the Melee community after all this time.

It’s probably a good thing that Nintendo steps in and hosts its own events to get into the community and hopefully, in the future, establish some ground rules for minors. Especially considering the allegations that popped up quite a lot some time ago.

We’ll see how it goes. I haven’t been to a Smash Bros event in
