It depends. For some areas it can be historically accurate. A small village Bysantium era thrace could very well have quite a lot of racial diversity. Any village in the balkans will have a lot of ethnic diversity. Any village in the otoman empire could host any number of different peoples and ethnic groups. And so on…

There is no such thing as forced diversity. Its as forced to have diversity as it is not to havr it, because, you know, its a story you write and you can write whatever you want.

It’s a choice they made but its not a neutral choice. Its a choice that comes with its own baggage, and has ramifications both related to the real world and to the quality of the world itself.
