Right along with this: “People are harder on themselves than someone else could ever be.” Bullshit. Most people cut themselves enough slack to stretch from here to the moon. Most people are incredibly lenient with themselves.

The quotation mark is not a mark of emphasis. It implies the thing isn’t real; it’s like putting “so-called” in fr8nt of the activity. And as Meghan explained, her son’s group is more of a work group than an executive, decision making group.

Thanks, Meghan.

Why did you enclose junior board and meeting in quotation marks?

I read recently about a GOOD Secret Santa exchange. You get a person’s name, then you buy a toy based on the person’s personality or interest. So you might get a football with their favorite teams logo, or a toy sewing machine for a crafter.

If you have a baked potato lover on your list, four ounces of freeze dried chives makes a really impressive gift. Four ounces is 3-4 CUPS of chives because they’re so lightweight. And the quantity is such they can sprinkle chives in anything and everything.

I consider the ingredient list a list. I ignore the amounts listed and use my judgement.

At the risk of stating the laughably obvious, different cultures have different communication customs. In 2007 I was sent by my Fortune 10 company to a factory in a Texas that was having quality issues. I was sent to determine whether to close it down, putting 120 employees out of work, or get it up to snuff. I found

As I understand the term, you’re not washing the booze with fat.  You’re washing the fat with booze. 8-)

In my birth family the whine, “Everyone else has one!” was a guaranteed way to not get the thing.

My turning point was getting decent storage containers. Old, mismatched, warped containers with missing lids would discourage anyone from efficiently cooking ahead.

Sure, because a tour based on the taste of these two people rather than the knowledge of an art historian is ... better in what way, exactly?

What’s the going rate for a tooth these days. When I was of tooth-loosing age, I got a nickel, back when dinosaurs roamed the earth.

Along the same lines, when someone I know loses a loved one, I don’t bring food. In my part of the country the food piles high and lots goes to waste. I go to Target and fill a couple reusable grocery bags with TP, paper towels, napkins, disposable cutlery, and paper plates. With folks in and out of the house, these

I’m really old, so I remember when the NRA was an organization of gun owners concerned with the second amendment and education. My late husband was a life member. Toda,  the NRA is an industry lobbying machine that has convinced gun owners through fear, en masse, to bankroll them and act as their stooges.

I don’t find them “dirt cheap”. Absmall vunch costs at least $.99 in my area (Southern California). I can get a pound of brown onions for the same price. I use scallions in recipes where their more delicate flavor shines, like fried rice.

Ok, I heard an interesting theory about rhino viruses and wonder if anyone’s heard of this or, more important, has heard of a study that supports or refutes this:

I dub this Turkey Tetrazzini a la Claire.

I lived in the deep South for several years. The racism I witnessed among my fellow white women curled my hair.

I was going to reply, but ...
