Both my 99 and 02 Silverado’s always had one DRL that would go out. It was never the bulb either. On my 02 they both went out. Never bothered to try to figure out why
You’re referring to the way that, during the daytime, many cars switch off the DRL—especially modern cars with bright ones—when the indicator on that side is operational, so that the indicator and DRL don’t compete. I get that. My 2015 Grand Cherokee does that.
I prefer reverse lights, calling them backup lights sounds like they are there in case the primary ones burn out. Which, on a GM, is going to be sooner rather than later.
GM also has this bad habit of having the perfect spot for a dedicated turn signal and then not using it.
