We do our best to just treat them like we would any other publisher. Any time I’m going to run a report like this, I’ll always ask the relevant parties for comment. Sure, Bethesda hasn’t responded in nearly five years, but that doesn’t mean we’re gonna stop asking. Let the onus be on them.

If someone says racist stuff when they’re angry or drunk, that means that racist stuff is at the forefront of their mind the rest of the time — they’re just better able to not blurt it out around people who they suspect may not be cool with it.

It’s a lot easier to brush off the N word when white, and on a winning team. It’s a lot harder to give up something (wins) and to maintain integrity.

To be blunt, I don’t respect someone who would say racist stuff because they had a bad night. That goes beyond awkwardness, especially when he does it again after someone tells him to stop.

So, I play a lot of Destiny. A LOT of Destiny. I didn’t actively start playing with other players until TTK, and I didn’t start talking to people online until I joined a clan.

Disabling your own chat doesn’t stop the toxic players from being toxic in the next game, or the game after that. I’ve been in plenty of games where people start insulting other players and don’t stop even if they get no response from them. The old “ignore the trolls and they’ll go away” just doesn’t work.
