I’m about halfway through the Parquet Courts album— it’s excellent so far. The musical parallels I’d draw would be Minutemen circa Double Nickels on the Dime (without Watt’s manic guitar play, of course), the Damned, with maybe a bit of Gang of Four scattered throughout.
