Yes, they are. My mom went to confession some time ago when she found out my dad was stepping out on her and the priest straight up told her that she needed to focus on her duties as a wife and mother because my father was busy being a provider and a man. Wtf
I grew up in the UK and must have been about 10 years old the morning my mother came into my room looking terrified after waking from a bad dream. In this dream she had been lying on her back in a field filled with flowers, screaming in pain, while a tall, dark man stood over her, telling her everything was going to…
At my Mom’s house, there is this shed that her father built a long time ago. We never really used it growing up, and it’s gone to waste really. My Mom just keeps gardening stuff in there now, and the lawnmower.
My sister and I were staying there at Christmas, and one night I had this really weird dream about the shed.…
Two things: 1) was the kitchen thing at Sarabeth’s on the UWS? Because that was a fascinating and very funny article to read about when it happened. 2) I realize you understand the callousness, but as a native New Yorker who works in mental health care, I’d urge you to think about the way you describe some of the…
This just sounds like an above-average day in New York.
I grew up in a small town on the Oregon coast, and it was the summer of my senior year of high school in the late 90s. My best friend and I were asked to house sit for some family friends of ours as they drove their son to college back east. They’d be gone for a whole month—jackpot! The family was one of the wealthier…
Given some of your language describing other humans in this post, I think you likely got the day karma planned for you. Google ableism, then rethink your post.
That story may be the worst-written and most obviously fake story in the history of the scary stories contest. It was virtually unreadable and mostly incomprehensible.
I actually got angrier and angrier every time I came across a new, pointlessly italicized sentence. This story was not scary and written like shit. Boooo. Ten upside down ghosts from me.
A few things in that story didn’t add up. Hwy 132 is arrow-straight for almost all the time it’s in the Valley. It doesn’t really get up to any twisty turns until it’s in the mountains and well on its way to Yosemite.
I don’t even understand how this story got picked. Clearly fake, full of plot holes, and written poorly.
That whole story, while wild and florid, was nonsense, and stupid. Body parts were scattered EVERYWHERE, but her uncle had no legs? I haven’t been to an Indian open casket funeral, but the open funeral caskets I’ve been too come up to above the waist. Also bride is pumped with fillers and is literally glowing like…
And what about the VHS tapes?!?
A wedding dress no less. At 17. Don’t care what your traditions are that’s just absurd.
Uhhhhhh, why would a 17 year old make a request about what she’s going to be buried in? That doesn’t really jibe.
This year I only was able to read one story. It was the one where the girl got violently violated at her home
Damn, that is a good (but terrifying) one. 10/10 good dog.
Good dog.
This needs to be cross-posted to the absolute worst first date story too.
