Because I’ve seen it all over the online haunts I frequent, and someone once said almost literally those exact words to me IRL (a white feminist over the age of 60). One, you can’t just rely on someone to be the inevitable candidate, just because people think it’s their time or because people feel like it’s the time for the first woman president.

It bears repeating that she did win the popular vote and likely only lost the presidency thanks to late-breaking news in the final days of the campaign. Still, it should have never been that close to begin with.

1. Yes, it is a comedy bit. It is not a literal statement of fact. The Labour party isn’t identical to the Conservative party either but the general point of it, both parties embracing of neoliberal economics, applies EQUALLY well here(which, again, is not 100% accuracy).
