Oh, you can go back to my very first comment and see that I do not agree with the airline’s position. The whole overbooking thing is preposterous and I can’t fathom how this is legal. Every weekend Chuck Schumer is pontificating on something wrong and stupid; why doesn’t he go to work on this?

He didn’t initiate or try to win a physical altercation with law enforcement.

But he wouldn’t have been “physically attacked” had he complied with a lawful order from a duly authorized member of law enforcement. They even made a song about it: “I Fought The Law (and The Law Won)“.

If only the Native Americans had kicked out the first white people they saw.

Do away with welfare and food stamps and free housing and fraudulent disability. Plenty of people will pick crops if it’s the difference between living and dying.

You’re basically telling me that any time anybody is doing anything, the cops are always within their rights to physically remove them for whatever reasons they see fit, and people should just comply with this, and if they don’t comply, they deserve whatever they get.

If someone with specific legal authority (and guns) directs one to do something that is within the law, a grownup complies and deals with payback later. He doesn’t scream like a child on some sort of spectrum and get dragged around in public like a side of beef.

It wouldn’t have got to that point were it me. When the Goon Squad showed up I would have sighed, said “You guys suck”, and got off the plane with my dignity and face intact.

It also would not have happened if this supposed doctor had acted like a goddamn adult and not a 2-year-old, literally throwing a screaming tantrum.

This was (obviously) handled poorly by everyone involved. And while he’s the least culpable, I’d like a little more focus on this doctor. Once the airline decided the doc was not flying that day, it was happening. What possessed a grown-ass man, a 69-year-old medical professional, to scream like a wounded howler

Yeah, people are thrilled in the socialist paradise of Venezuela these days.

Yes, left-wing pols love bullet trains, because they are a limitless trough of patronage jobs and public monies to steal. What was that disaster in California up to before even Gov Moonbeam knew it had to be stopped, $6 billion?

Better idea: harshly punish people who cause collisions, and leave those of us who are coordinated enough to answer a phone while driving alone.

You don’t need a minivan for a three-person family, but it is great. You can fit seven people, so the grandparents can all ride along. You can fit everything in it. We kept a training potty in it, so if my daughter (or wife with her thimble-sized bladder) had to pee on a road trip, I didn’t have to drive around

A grown man that collects autographs and describes himself as a “superfan”? Dolan pretty much nailed it.

I’ve never been to a crematorium service. I will someday because both of my parents have indicated that’s what they want. (Probably because I told them not to waste money on a grave I will never visit.)

Maybe. Catholic family and most of my friends (probably due to HS and college), and that’s how we roll. Attending a funeral is pretty rare unless you are very close. And even then I know a lot of people go to the service and then bail - no one wants to schlep all the way out to the gravesite.

I always try to make a shiva call because of the deli platters.

Eh, that’s all you gotta do. Maintain the social compact. If it’s someone you’re not that close to they don’t care and will barely notice you, let alone what you said. Then you find someone you do know, talk about baseball for a while, sign the book, and leave when no one is looking.

Yeah, I have regrets.
