I don’t see how they can make this work. The core conceit of the character is “two fisted archeologist. They can’t make “funnies” about how he’s passed his prime yet again. If they try to thrust him into some 1960's James Bondian shtick with an arsenal of gadgets, I will have to kill every man in this room.

The problem is that it has been pretty obvious a huge chunk of animals are bogus service animals, because true service animals, like seeing eye dogs, are nearly 100% as stable as a rock.

The “average person” doesn’t need the comfort animal. The people who don’t are the “average person.” There are alternative ways to quell your anxiety that don’t potentially and needlessly endanger others. Take a pill, get a dog sitter.
