I really enjoyed Black Panther and it is infinitely better than Bohemian Rhapsody, which was complete garbage. On that point you are quite correct.

Criticizing someone for submitting shoddy work product and showing up late to work? The gall of this woman!
“The scene is one of the most resonant needle-drops in Anderson’s entire catalog, with Wood offering a warning wrapped inside a wistful lament about the unavoidable pitfalls and heartbreaks of youth, while all the assembled characters sway toward their final curtain call.”
Duh. Didn’t you guys realize the internet is cancer and social media its most virulent form?
I love this movie.
Heartbreaker is one of my all-time favorite albums and I have probably listened to it a million times.
Yup. This x10000.
... oh wow, you really got me! But seriously, you’re right on all fronts. Please proceed to announce to your dorm hall how you powned some fool on the internet!
Ha.
I enjoyed parts of ‘A Little Life’ but that book frequently left me aghast, and not in a good or impressed kind of way. It struck me as torture porn in service of an otherwise important narrative. But I totally understand I’m in the minority opinion and that the book is widely loved.
I admire your cynicism; we would be friends!
This is a really, really good pop album. And, I love the complete absence of any featured musicians on this thing. It’s all Ariana, and she is the absolute shit.
Even though I love this album, I agree with you. But if we’re going to levy this criticism on Ariana, we should do the same to Beyonce, who gets boatloads of critical praise for her music despite hiring a bunch of white indie rockers to write and compose all of her music. Not necessarily a jab at Beyonce, who also…
Yeah, which is why I was very hesitant to begin with. Overstuffed fiction is the worst, because I can never just put a book down and walk away from it unfinished. Recently, I read “A Little Life” and had the same issue as you with the Tartt novel. That book was just trying to do too much, and ultimately failed in…
Interesting. It had never even occurred to me to check out The Little Friend — Secret History was totally engrossing for me because the story hit close to home; the narrator’s fascination with his environment is akin to what I also went through at that age. Thanks for the input!
That is my least favorite Delillo, by a considerable margin. Thanks for your input!
After years of shrugging it off, I just started reading The Goldfinch by Donna Tartt. I adored her earlier work, The Secret History, but put off reading the more recent/popular novel because of a particularly scathing review in the New Yorker, I believe. My girlfriend recently read The Goldfinch and gave it a…
I’m sorry that happened to you.
Want to be very clear that “knob” is not a homophobic slur. If people have being using homophobic slurs, fuck them.
Yes, you’re so brave.
