I just took it all to mean that she’s a sociopath. Sociopaths do fucked up things for no apparent reason. I will agree, though, that the book is flawed. I still loved it, nevertheless.

I’m ashamed to admit it, but I finally got around to reading East of Eden this year. It is, of course, a masterpiece.
That is a ridiculous statement.
Too similar? Clearly you’ve never been party to a 3some.
I think the point of him not bailing immediately was so the soldiers on the beach didn’t have to witness his plane crashing.
NiM is so goddamn good. That scene with the lighters.
No, your criticisms are pretty on point.
Oops.
I can respect that. I will offer some pushback, though. If indeed it was lifted from Her, it was done far better in 2049. Also, I think that the fact that the scene in 2049 involved sex between a replicant, another replicant, and an AI is unique enough so as to not come off as being derivative. The relations between…
In my opinion they’re without a doubt the two best movies of the year. 2049 seems destined to attain the same cult status as its predecessor - I don’t really understand the criticism of the movie. It seems to me that the people who did not like 2049 also wouldn’t like the original. What really caught me off guard with…
The love scene from Blade Runner 2049 or the final scene(s) from Dunkirk are literally better than all of these save Florida Project.
The final seasons of HaCF and Leftovers were all-timers for me as well, especially the former. That show resonated with me on such an intensely emotional level, it’s essentially literary.
The first season is a major slog, and it gets slightly better in S2. S3 and S4 are, for all intensive purposes, perfect television. With the exception of maybe the Leftovers, no other dramatic tv show comes even close to matching HaCF in quality this year.
“Mr. Robot remains the most amazing thing I have ever seen on TV.”
Happy to see the Leftovers and Halt and Catch Fire place so high. Those two shows reached some incredible highs in each of their respective final seasons, becoming two of the best shows ever made in the process.
Retrieving the Master Sword in Korok Forest was a beautiful moment. Nothing else this year can really compare.
Yeah, how any reviewer can purposefully not include Slowdive in any end of year best-of list is beyond me. I mean, do your ears work right?
Breath of the Wild was such a beautiful, engrossing videogame. I bought the Switch after not playing a single video game in nearly six years, and bought it only to play Zelda. That game, above all else, taught this old fool what it feels like to be a kid again.
Riiiiiight, because Phish have really been pushing the envelope of late.
1 - Slowdive
