Avocado and Backspacer better than Ten? HA! Such gall.

Why go see Pearl Jam? Answer: because they care about their fans.

Very peculiar you mention those parts, because that is exactly what I had in mind when I wrote this earlier. Lieutenant Mamiya's letters describing his time in Outer Mongolia is honestly some of the most amazing writing I have ever read. It is absolutely the strongest part of Wind-Up Bird.

I've been on a huge Murakami kick recently, which is odd considering I was a staunch critic of his for several years. There are sections in Wind-Up Bird and Hard-Boiled that are among my favorite passages in all contemporary literature.

I can attest to the truly interesting commentary from the Tolkien edition. Really insightful stuff. I put together a comparative analysis of Beowulf translations while in college, and it was a really enjoyable process. I can say with complete certainty, however, that Heaney's poetic and rousing translation is the

Nikes is such a tremendously awesome track. I mean, fuck.

LCD Soundsystem reunites..

Animals is the first album I ever truly heard. And by "heard" I mean listened to, experienced. To be sure, I was already aware that music existed at the time I heard Animals, but listening to it was the moment I realized what music could amount to. I'm sure none of this makes sense.

I have never been a religious person, but that movie affected me in such a way that can only be described as religious, and for that, it is perfect.

For me, it has to be Mad Men.

Fuckin' right on Crystal Castles. Their music is perfect for hitting the track or powning noobs on Halo Slayer.

I don't want to live in a world where ripping on Dave Matthews Band is uncool.

Yeah, I dunno about that. Jon Stewart was/is great, but not entirely the first of his kind. He merely brought to the televised media what has been around since the advent of modern politics, i.e., comedic dissent. Trying to shift some of the blame away from the culpable and on to Stewart and those of his ilk misses

This is a band I knew nothing about three days ago. It would appear that I have been missing out. This has managed to perfectly fill the void left by Frank Ocean, who has managed to abruptly disrupt the Earth from its axis tilt.

Well, I respectfully respect your respectful disagreement.

SHIIIT, how could we all neglect to mention Princess Mononoke. Arguably the greatest story ever told on the big screen.

I've been a pretty harsh critic of this show in recent seasons (because, well, it has been terrible), but these past few episodes have reinitiated my love of the show. Top notch drama right here.

See, that book in particular I could not get a handle on. I don't deny Roth's skill, but I get nothing from Sabbath's Theater.

I respect most of Roth's work, but can't connect with any of it. Except American Pastoral. It still has a lot of the more characteristic themes that make Roth books controversial, but it does not lose itself in pandering to them over and over again. It is quite literally a perfect book.
