I’ll say this for Beyond, at least they told an original story and resisted the urge to make it another remake, like Into Darkness did with Wrath of Khan. I was imagining Zachary Quinto mind-melding with a whale.

I’m on board with him. Late stage John Williams is nothing like his early days. Even the last three Star Wars movies, outside of Rey’s theme, are pretty bland and generic.
