I don’t know about other people, but my time-wasting transitions seamlessly from my mobile device to my computer. It would be great if FB would track both for us.

He is wrong. Why would we expect those who are benefiting so richly from the status quo to change? They’re the ones who will have the resources to manage when the climate crisis really hits, while the rest of us take the brunt of it, particularly the poor. But by all means, continue to be part of the problem by

I just set a rough word-count range, like “about X words, +/- 10%. Too much more or less may be subject to a decreased grade.” That’s usually enough to get students in the ballpark I’m looking for. Some will still pad with BS, some will still overwrite and be unable to stick to the topic, but we can sort that stuff

My kids are both smiling pretty broadly in their US passport photos. I’m sort of smirking in mine. But I took all the photos myself.

LOL Yeah, leave the soy-sauce production to the professionals. I’ve made my own nattō, which is pretty easy, but my wife objects.

If you genuinely despise your job: Quit. Now. GTFO. Do not allow your (probably comfortably) miserable job to drain one more precious moment of your life, much less many hours a day, for weeks and months and years on end. It’s a big world out there. No amount of security is worth hating your life.

Mine is “WWJBD?”

Also, cheesesteaks get all the coverage, but Philly hoagies are the bomb.

Ah, it’s all good. I haven’t lived even in the country for many years, and I haven’t really missed the stuff — I just liked the idea that I still “had” it somewhere. There are a few items of significant monetary and/or sentimental value that I’ll rescue or sell off; the rest will get donated. If I haven’t really

I hate to be a bummer, but you do know that excesses of salt, while they aren’t going to make you fat, aren’t really any better for you in overall health terms than too much sugar, don’t you?

Also, I left a bunch of my stuff (a whole lot) at my parent’s house, so hopefully they never want to downsize.

While the mechanism is not clearly understood yet, there’s actually a good bit of research indicating that retention is better when reading paper books than digital versions, be they on e-readers, computers, or tablets.

“So what you are saying is that your wife is not in a “stable, trusting long-term relationship”, or that she has insecurities.”

It sounds to me like the people who are saying this is psycho have never actually been in a stable, trusting long-term relationship and/or are projecting their own insecurities onto the issue. I know plenty of couples who do this, including one of my best friends and his wife. You don’t constantly check up on the

I’m getting a *$300* price after the discount, not $200. What gives?

This is precisely how I quit smoking.

I find that an hour break from screens before bed is sufficient to improve my sleep quality significantly (I have no problems falling asleep either way). Even 30 minutes seems to make a difference. Just not having been looking at a screen right before I go to sleep. Usually I turn off the computer / TV / etc., wash

“Only associate your bed with rest.”

There are clothes made of such fabrics, labeled “pre-shrunk”. But yes, I suppose it would be nice if it were standard practice. However, for reasons pointed out above, that’s not viable for all fabrics (such as cashmere).
