I can generally read on trains. Cars are a problem, but only when I have movement in the forward periphery of my vision. As a kid on long car trips, I found I could avoid carsickness if I lay down across the back seat and read that way. I’ve tried reclining a front seat way back, but it doesn’t seem to work; the front

I did my inventory in Evernote, but I’ve often wished I’d done it on a spreadsheet. Google sheets would be ideal for sharing & updating with the wife. We’re moving in August; I think I’ll re-do the inventory when we move.

THAT CUTTING BOARD! WANT! WAAAANT!

I’m glad you’re finding DBT helpful, but I don’t think it can be said that mindfulness is a technique developed by any particular psychologist. It’s an element of yogic and Buddhist traditions going back thousands of years, which has been adapted quite recently by a number of psychologists and other therapists for

Jesus, that’s horrible. But there is no drug with which guns are a good mix.

“it turns out that FOMO isn’t about fear of missing information. It’s about feeling anxious that you’re missing out on bonding time with your social group.”

“2. sex .... ? ... nothing coming”

I’ve had sex with all my ex-s.

I was wondering if anybody was going to bring up IF. I’ve had great success with it. Still have to control portions otherwise, so I don’t end up just gorging and (over)compensating, but I’ve been surprised how well I function during 18-24 hour fasts.

You mean like Nair? You don’t want that stuff anywhere near your sensitive parts.

YMMV. I’ve been using intermittent fasting for body-composition control for some time now, and I semi-regularly hit new PRs at the end of 18-24 hour fasts. I eat like a tank after with no noticeable bounce-back.

Or, as noted above, just deliberately mess up the touch 5 times.

I did, because my 2-year-old son does it to my phone all the time. (>.<)

I found The Complete Guide to Everyday Kanji indispensable, and recommend Hadamitzky and Spahn’s Guide to Writing Kanji & Kana for writing practice. Of course, I’m sure there are apps for that now, too.

I often stir a scoop of vanilla casein protein into some yoghurt and frozen berries as a late-evening dessert (sometimes sprinkle a little flax in there, too). No blender necessary, and tastes great.

Or, you could skip the paper entirely and wrap it in a nice, reusable furoshiki cloth, instead (as suggested by a recent Lifehacker post, I believe...).

This is pretty standard gyoza-cooking technique. You don’t need a nonstick pan (with their short lifespans they’re a terrible waste). Use either a cast-iron or carbon-steel one (that’s what the gyoza pros use around here) and a metal turner, and they come out perfect. Fry one side only for that lovely crispy/soft

A small price to pay for perfection.

And it’s not crap? Everything I’ve bought from them thus far has turned out to be utter garbage.

I live abroad, and I received my absentee ballot. I’m assuming that means I’m registered?

That’s usually called “drop sets”, and my impression is they’re usually used after more challenging loads to increase total workout volume despite fatigue. Usually it’s reversed, though: you start at high weight/ low reps, and increase the reps as you go down. I’ve never heard of anyone starting it at a set of 20
