I absolutely love the idea of a library branch in a vacated Barnes & Noble. Some kind of poetic justice in that.

Holy f*** where do you live.

I believe that's "bogart", sir. But I applaud your reasonableness as well. Here in Japan the problem is less people working than sleeping. Beverage finished. They're just taking up space. That pisses me off. I've been known to kick chairs.

This is exactly what I have in mind. Ideally it would be something with just a record/stop button and a microphone. Maybe I could just mount the microphone in the shower and have the recorder outside somewhere. Then to get it into a transcriber, and directly into Evernote...

Great idea. Thanks! Just ordered one. I still think audio capture is probably the ideal solution, but this is much cheaper; I'll try it for now!

Also sounds like the experience of many a stoned musician or writer.

I am still trying to work out a good capture system for the shower, which is almost always where I get my best ideas — and usually when I really need to get showered and going somewhere. I tried whiteboard markers, but I usually don't have time to stop and write everything down, and half of it tends to get blurred,

quibble: I think you mean "bi-weekly" (or "twice a month") for "more extreme situations". "Bi-monthly" would just be letting the problem get worse.

For the past 15 years I have kept my diary in a red Daily Reminder Standard Diary, a habit I inherited from my father. I keep thinking about going digital with my diary, but there is something more meditative feeling about putting pen to paper as I go over the events of the day.

If you've got an iOS device: I find the combination of the "Zazen" meditation timer and "Simply Noise" white-noise app, along with a pair of earphones with a decent seal, allow me to have a good meditation session virtually anywhere and at any time. Technology in the service of seeking enlightenment = ♥

I, too, believe this.

This isn't particularly in response to this post, except for the fact that there were a lot of comment threads:

Everybody, of course.

Huh? "It's" = "it is" (or, less frequently, "it has"), not "of it". Unless you think it should be "at it is core"? He's got it right, on that count at least...

This is a point I was going to make. The rule may be old school, but for someone who describes himself as a grammar "stickler", this guy certainly breaks it with reckless abandon, which kind of undercuts his argument. He's got "and", "so", and "but" starting sentences all over the place. Yes, this has become

Slightly off-topic, but can anybody recommend a really good pair of Bluetooth earbuds for sports? I love not having the wires to deal with, but I can't seem to find a pair that has it all: good sound, a proper fit, and resistance to sweat.
