I guess that’s a matter of taste. The Escape still sells pretty well though. The biggest hurt is the -22% in the car market. It’s hard to justify bumper to bumper refreshes when the segment seems to be in a death spiral.

Add to that:Taurus SHO

Mazda is the only one I could think of, and maybe Subaru, but when you look at both, most of their cars are still very meh. the Mazda 3 is 50/50, good for what it is, but still a commuter car. Miata = good, and then the CX lineup is freaking crossovers (something I actually like, but many seem not to) - they’re good

Can you show me any other OEM with a lineup in those segments that isn’t bland and boring? Every single automaker has boring ass cars because the segments demand boring ass cars. That’s what sells.

Investors don’t want Ford to build cars, something it is ostensibly good and experienced at, with new technology. But will fall ass over teakettle to dump money into Uber and Waymo (Alphabet) stock to build a self driving cars. OK.

Priorities.... you’ve got them straight in my book (ie: Car > Alcohol).

The woman in the article isn’t making a living - she’s on disability for painful bladder syndrome, so your logic doesn’t apply.

To me this data doesn’t paint an all that convincing picture. How many times does someone run into repeated max braking panic stops in the real world? On the first stop the winters stopped within 4 feet of the all seasons. That’s pretty dang close. (The reverse test on snow in the winter has a much larger difference.)

The odds are fine.

It does pay...in spades. Everyone should strive for excellence, that’s not a “white” value it’s a human value. Speaking properly without give-away intonations, expressions and speech patterns which allow people to automatically discriminate against you before they even see you is important. It will certainly get you

Two Utes?

Numerous companies underrate their engines, one of the more notable examples was the Neon SRT-4. However, my guess is that’s actually a dyno chart for the SI, not the 1.5L.

My guess is that its actually the dyno chart for the SI. An underrated 205hp, could easily result in 190 at the wheels. But you’re right. I don’t think its wheel HP for the 1.5L

I am 99% sure that dyno chart is not at the wheels but at the crank. I know for a fact the 1.5 doesn’t make 190whp stock. And not to argue, but even if the manual trans only sapped 10% of power, that would mean the 1.5 is making 250 crank @ 225 to the wheels. Call me a skeptic but I ain’t buyin it!

I feel like even 214 hp is less than the civic Si should have... even weighing a little less than the competition, it really needs at least 230...like bare minimum...

Auto mechanic just isn’t that prestigious of a job. I mean everyone emphasizes over and over the importance of an education because you don’t want to end up in some common labor job, as if doing that sort of work is a failure. How many people aspire to auto mechanic now?

Pretty early for COTD
