Well it will completely smoke a lot of 100,000+ so called “no compromise sports cars” on the track so there is that.
So a Civic Type R is faster then a freaking 2004 Ford GT, 2003 911 GT3, 2008 Lamborghini Gallardo, 2015 BMW M4 and a Ferrari F430 and it’s “not sporty”?
Nice comparison, but amazing how the bar has been raised for performance brakes and handling over the years. Brembo’s inside 20" wheels, 245 section tires, 340 hp engine. It must be a beast on the track. (and a bastard in the snow)....
Well, we, as in people posting on Jalopnik, wished we get it in the US, how seeing the UK version made us drool. And now we have it. And we are complaining about the things that made us want it? Get real people, and be careful what you wish for!
i’m 37, I’m buying one. Life is too short to drive boring looking cars.
Hi. I’m pauljones.
The kind that doesn’t care what his co-workers thing about his ride?
I think the Type R is great looking like a WRC racing machine. And I’d take it over a 718, Audi TT, AMG-CLA and a bunch of other machines.
The looks of the civic have grown on me a bit. It’s not beauty to be sure.... but it’s dare i say a purposeful design. It’s sporty, and differen’t at the very least. I like the hatch even better. It has character, and its interesting.
Unfortunately, Kia haven’t figured out the whole chassis tuning thing yet though. They have great styling, value and are built much better than in the past, but I still can’t drive something that handles like a ‘93 Buick Regal. The horses in their engines often seem to be suffering from mono as well, as they rarely…
Idk what everyone is talking about. I like the look of the new civic and the hatchback especially. Is it getting kinda big? Yes but thats happening across the board with every manufacturer. The honda fit (while lacking decent irs) is a good replacement if youre looking for the old civic feel while having amazing…
I might need my eyes checked, but the rear end of the Mazda 3 hatch is actually pretty ugly IMO. I actually like the sedan version a lot better and I don’t necessarily think this looks better than the Civic hatch.
No. The Type R.
Im flabbergasted by the number of people who think this is “ugly”. I think its the first honda I can recall that I’d call “sexy”. In fact in the real world with normal people, I can’t tell you how many people have said, “Wow have you seen that new civic? it looks awesome”.
Hondas suffered from looking just like every…
IMHO best looking car in the segment and probably the best looking honda ever made....
I just pray that the Type R comes in that awesome bright yellow color. if so, I’m in for one!
Best looking Civic in a while.
The acceleration figures may be the same, but the Civic will likely be substantially faster around a track. I mean, they're aiming for it to be the fastest FWD production car around the 'ring, and the current FWD champ - the RS Megane 275 - already has the R beat by a fair margin.
Honda NEEDS to sell this over here! Yeah there's the Focus ST/RS, MS3, Golf GTI/R, WRX/STI, etc, but NONE of them have Honda reliability!
