If you have time (and like NPR), this episode of This American Life does a great job of explaining the history, successes, and failures of the NUMMI partnership between GM and Toyota- http://www.thisamericanlife.org/radio-archives…. It's interesting stuff.

Also, the AWD version makes a great all weather wagon. Although it could be had only with the weaker 1.8 (?) liter engine.

Plus, you could even get the 2ZZ engine!
