If there’s anything I’ve picked up over the last 6-7 years it’s that publicly naming your abuser opens you up to a lot of scrutiny and criticism.

Brock Turner didn’t get a pass from his victim. I don’t know the details here, so while normally I think it’s better to reveal when someone has committed a serious crime, I also don’t have much grounds to second-guess Malone.
I know the comments section here has become a dumpster fire, but the very first comment mainsplaining on a story about sexual assault was not on my bingo card.
If it helps, they’ve been compensated, and shows tend not to last forever (if they’re ordered to full series at all).
i always think it’s weird when people do this ‘won’t someone please think of the crew!’ stuff. they do not care, got paid already and have moved onto their next thing.
Actually, the disabled community has A LOT of beefs with Family Guy, and his character is a big one. Regardless of your feelings one way or another, I guarantee you that he’s been criticized and asked to apologize about the show quite a bit.
I think it’s helpful not to think of stories like this as “setting back” the MeToo movement, but instead more realistically adjusting its expectations. Getting justice for sexual assault victims is always going to be a difficult, frustrating process, and not only because of misogyny or society’s willingness to dismiss…
“I could deal without all those men” is going to be the subtitle for autobiography, I swear. I feel you Ellen.
The Scream 6 marketing is out of control.
Hey now! Kevin McHale wouldn’t have played a kid in a wheelchair on Glee if he knew “what we know know”. This is a joke because we know everything we knew then now and I’m making the comparison to what you just said.
I’m not insulting you with this snark I’m insulting Evangeline Lily* Even two years ago any sane person…
Exception that proves the rule.
I enjoyed Patton Oswalt’s M.O.D.O.K., without ever having read the comic or knowing anything about the character.
So just to be clear: we're supposed to hate Jason Sudeikis because of a report from a former nanny that both he and Olivia Wilde denied was true, and also because a process server did their job? Even for present-day AV Club, this is a shockingly bad take.
Dunkin as a company is completely incompetent on a daily basis so he’s just following along with company culture.
Yeah, from the looks of the other comments I think I’m a bit warmer on S5 than most people, but I still wouldn’t watch it again, and really hate how dark they went with that ending.
Does Netflix need money to keep it around? There’s always money in the banana stand.
When Bacharach asked “why do birds suddenly appear?”
I wouldn’t call it pathetic. Desperate, perhaps, but he was desperate at that point. The she just gets up and closes the window, and gets back in bed. I didn’t watch the clip but assume it’s in there.
Yeah, funny thing about that Say Anything scene: in context of the story, it’s a pathetic, desperate gesture that does absolutely nothing to win the girl over. It’s just the instant recognizability of the image that’s caused it to be remembered as a classic romantic scene, when the movie couldn’t make it more obvious…
This show is precisely why everyone is so bummed Savage turned out to be a prick. It’s like a less severe version of reaction to the Cosby revelations.
