It also still hearkens to fears of the real terror being at home, particularly as a New Hollywood inversion of Night of the Living Dead. It’s kind of a perfect object as is, and expanding its mythology has never really helped the series—give or take a The Texas Chainsaw Massacre 2

And here’s the other fucked-up thing: Is that even really his mother? Or is she an artificial creation that is capable of loving David in a way the Monica we see in the first half of the film isn’t?

Having worked in a camera department for the last several months, the notion of someone using steadicam on live television is the most nerve-racking thing to see or consider.

Gotta be honest: Adam McKay’s movies have only gotten worse without Ferrell.

I don’t get how people find the ending of A.I. to be schmaltzy. It’s so horrifying, and is intended as such by Spielberg.

Waking Life erasure. But thank fucking Christ Shrek is not on this list.

Look, far be it for me to bemoan losing filmmakers to gadgetry, I really hope we don’t lose Jordan Peele to futzing and technical experimentation.

I saw the trailer for this recently, and I was howling with laughter. This thing looks like a parody of itself.

Hard to argue this list. The two that come to mind are the first episode, where it’s implied that Dennis is raped and it’s played as a joke. And the Extreme Makeover: Home Edition episode where they kidnap and psychologically torture a family before demolishing their house--although, they give the family the mansion

Joe Manganiello is so fucking good in these movies. His “I Want it That Way” scene is one of the miracles of 2010s cinema.

Very weird that this is a news story considering that he’s been working on this since long before the pandemic and we’ve been updated on its progress ever since.

Yeah, I don’t know. On one hand, I thought the movie was fine--certainly better than its toxic reception would have suggested. Still, the Ramis of it is kind of the worst part in more ways than one.

I sure wish Ridley Scott put as much focus into character as he supposedly values into his movies, because that is consistently the weakest element of his storytelling.

There’s basically no instance where animation can be transposed into live action. The closest you get is something like Speed Racer, which is a masterpiece, but clearly does not look or move or feel like anything else and is essentially a cartoon with human actors in it. Or you get Scooby Doo, which only works because

You are what you eat.

I don’t necessarily disagree with the point, but how he articulates it is clumsy.

Aaron Sorkin is both the most brilliant dramatist, and the dumbest motherfucker on the planet. Never a dull moment.

The Vaccinator!!!

My wife and I watched this together when it aired. Anytime I’m out and I see scaffolding, I will take a picture, and send it to her with the caption “scaffolding.”

Interesting to see so many people dislike the fourth season. I didn’t find much of a dip in quality, but coming after a year in quarantine was a bit rough. That aside, it’s the most psychologically and emotionally distressing of the series by a mile.
