I think this is closer to the correct take. American Sniper is mainly just not good—although, it might be Bradley Cooper’s best performance.

Saw this at Sundance. A solid psychological thriller. Moody and disorienting, if a little too cold for my taste. Otherwise, I’m excited for people to see this.

“Forget John Cusack...” How could anyone forget a performance in a movie that doesn’t exist?

Great response from Kemper, especially when she absolutely did not need to dignify the outrage machine—which The A.V. Club fed.

Could he BE anymore of a distraction??

I tried to think of a way that this could be legitimate, but no, this is bullshit.

It’s not a matter of nostalgia. The scale of how you see a movie greatly impacts how you experience it. It’s a totally different feeling watching something on the big screen versus seeing something at home. Even smaller scale movies are more absorbing in a theater.

I had a similar thought. It would be shitty one way or another, but it’s a relief to know that he didn’t get swallowed up by the miserable machine that, like you mention, does a number on child stars

His performance in the The Little Mermaid really is a thing of beauty. He’s able to embody an uptight energy while displaying a lot of joy, sadness, and smoothness. Incredible stuff.

100%. I would love to see Dave Bautista play a broken paragon of post-war masculinity. I think he can do it.

Every frame a painting, baby.

Counterpoint: Ang Lee’s Hulk rules, and has actually aged like fine wine in an era of self-serious and ugly-looking comic book movies.

“Izzo (H.O.V.A.)“ is still my pick, basic as it is.

To those who do not care about SNL, I totally get it. But I promise that there are some amazing hosts in the back catalog. Elliott Gould, Robin Williams, Candace Bergman, RICHARD PRYOR!!!!, John Goodman, and others are 100% worth checking out. Obviously, modern hosts like Melissa McCarthy, Zach Galifanakis, Steve

We rag on Chris Pratt all the time—rightfully so—but whenever I rewatch Parks and Recreation, I totally fall in love with Andy Dwyer. It makes perfect sense why people thought he’d make a great movie star. Pratt as an overgrown puppy is always fun, but he’s never gotten that kind of role since—with Guardians being the

Why not? I enjoy Rick and Morty—not to brag about my sky-high IQ. I think a Vindicators show could be fun.

Who’s ready for season two of Blue Balls with Tom Selleck?

I was a dumb teenager, but always hated people like Bill Maher--same with Sam Harris, Christopher Hitchens, and Richard Dawkins. He always seemed like an arrogant bully, someone who used intellectualism to belittle others, rather than champion meaningful ideas. And maybe Maher was like that at one point, but I’m glad

While I like her self-titled, and don’t hate MASSEDUCTION, I’m always hoping Clark will return to the baroque-tinged madness of Actor and Strange Mercy. The production and songwriting are flawless on those records, and these last couple records have felt a little tired. That said, I’m sure that Daddy’s Home is good.

The Good, The Bad, and the Whedon.
