What I wanted to say (without un-greying the troll), other than fuck off, was that I’m still fertile and have never wanted children of my own. I like children. I’m grateful that I have access to my niece and several little cousins. But, at 46, i have never regretted not having my own.

You’ve hit on the fear factor that, in part, sustains this myth. FOMO is one. Fear of being alone and without support in old age is another. Fear is probably not a great reason for motherhood, but at least it’s more honest than convincing oneself that it’s necessarily one’s nature and destiny.

Throughout history more than 10% of women/female people - have not married, had children or bought into this societal bullsh*t. Imagine how many wouldn’t have if it weren’t shoved down our throats?
