I whooped for joy last night when I learned Anita Alvarez lost. She likes to talk about how she’s a ‘Pilsen Girl’ (Pilsen: a working class, Latino neighborhood in the ‘Lower West Side’ of Chicago’.) Bish, please. She lives in River Forest (upper class, expensive, college town with multimillion dollar homes/mansions)

I agree with this - why go to a place that’s openly hostile to the US? I’m not victim blaming, but at the same time, I wouldn’t go to a place where I know I’m not (really) welcome.

SHE’S GONE! HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHHAHAHAHHAHHAHAHHHAHAH!!!!

They look at it in terms of, ‘Well if they wern’t doing that kind of stuff to begin with, they wouldn’t have to worry about it.’ That is, until someone they know/love gets entrapped...

This is beyond terrible - it hurts my heart (not literally) because children (YES, THESE ARE STILL CHILDREN) shouldn’t have to go through this...and when children are charged as adults (because, in essence, that’s what’s happening), they’re put in the general jail population. I read ‘Just Mercy’, by Bryan Stevenson,

Seriously. She needs to be GONE.

I sure hope so. She needs to be ousted from office.

incestuous boy gays no less. EW!

This is the woman who said that her office was ‘too busy’ to process rape kits. I voted against her. I hope she gets dumped on royally.

I typed this in reply to another post, but it fits here, too: Someone donated a bunch of books to my library - all paperbacks, from the 1970s, and all from ‘The Bee Line Collection’. All with copious amounts of incest. Brother/sister. Father/daughter. Mother/son. Mother/daughter. (No ‘father/son’ - guess that’s too

YAAAAASSSSSS! Totally! I’m going to start reading her!

OOOOOH! I will DEFINITELY LOOK FOR THOSE!!!! (Thank you!) <3

Reminds me of the house scenes toward the end of ‘2001: a Space Odyssey’

I just requested the two oldest novels of hers in our system: ‘The Days of Abandonment’ and ‘Troubling Love’. Sure enough, my library doesn’t carry anything written by her, and I only see that a few libraries in our consortium carry her works - but they’re being circulated, and that is always good.

At my particular library, NYT best seller books (usually) don’t seem to do well.

Suburban Chicago

I’m definitely going to look into this author and her body of work.

Truth be told, I don’t read the trades because I don’t work in Collection Development. I make sure that Collection Development has the resources so they can buy the stuff they want. I haven’t seen these books on shelf at the library that I work at, either, and according to the our ‘Patron Holds’ reports, I don’t see

Never said she was obscure - just that I hadn’t heard of her.
