I’m mixed on the $60 price tag, myself, but I want to raise a question: is it size/length that we use to determine a game’s worth? Or just the fact that it’s a remake (regardless of how many people will experience it for the first time now)?

To be fair, Link’s Awakening is almost the same length as A Link to the Past (15ish hours), and it’s a ton of work to literally rebuild a game from scratch with new graphics. Astral Chain is barely longer than it, and DMC5 and Control are shorter.

I think they’re referring to the actual MSRP + official sales more than the random store coupons/discounts that Slickdeals finds. It takes Nintendo quite a while to even introduce discount programs for their first-party releases per console (do we even have a Nintendo Selects for the Switch yet?), let alone actually

I like the comparison, but I do think there’s a slight difference given that the industry has trained consumers to want remakes for cheaper. The Spyro and Crash collections are both $40 for 3 games each that did the same thing as Link’s Awakening (new graphics, totally remade, completely faithful to the original

Man, I’m excited for this. The aesthetic is so friggin cute and well-done, and though I owned Link’s Awakening DX, I was stumped at the very beginning and never figured out where to go. It’ll be a brand-new experience for me. I just wish it was a tiny bit cheaper; I know it’s not cheap to rebuild a game with a

he’s in his thirties. he’s formed enough to know that racism is bad. jfc.

I Googled and found they have their own studio together now, too, so that might be part of what happened. I think I got it confused since AI: The Somnium Files finished development only recently.

Oy vey, that’s weird. They shouldn’t be doing that, anyway; they’re supposed to repeat it back to you in Starbucks lingo, but not try to pull stuff like that lol.

Oh, was this not the collaboration they announced? I could have sworn this was the big Uchikoshi game they were working on together; I saw active development updates on this game even pretty recently.

Do you get crap from the baristas, or do they just repeat your order to you in Starbucks lingo?

Yep, totally fine. We’d rather you use small/medium/large than try to order in Starbucks-speak and get the wrong size. (Venti is the large, for instance.)

It doesn’t help that this is a collaboration with the Danganronpa creator. Those games have way more stupid perviness than any of the Zero Escape games did.

Man, I wish I liked the combat in this one. It was charming and gorgeous, but the combat and the writing just didn’t do it for me. I need to get the sequel at some point, if only for the combat...

So it’s Left 4 Dead, plus escape room...?

Legit question—where has there been discussions about the names of the women in Death Stranding? Some of them have names that are iffy, but others are typical female names, so I’m curious.

It seems like it’s more of a Hashino problem than an all-of-Atlus problem. Hopefully now that he’s just working on Project re:Fantasy and is out of, say, Persona, we’ll get a bit less of that. I wonder if sensitivity readers are a thing in Japan.

I wouldn’t necessarily say the game handles polyamory poorly, tbh; it’s not about opening up a relationship or Vincent failing to express that properly, but about Vincent being in a monogamous relationship and seemingly violating it then covering it up. If Catherine was pushing for non-monogamy and Katherine was

Holy shit. A tiny, cute-ified alcoholic cryptid. That’s amazing. I know a lot of Pokemon have various development stories, but this is fantastic. Thank you for breaking it down for me--this is awesome!

God, this looks excellent. I’m a little worried about the weird ghosts and the new dude on the motorcycle, but everything else makes me think this remake might legitimately end up being good. I was looking forward to it either way, since it looks fun to play and I enjoy seeing what people change in
