Thank you!

Do you happen to have a link for that?

Man, I can relate to this. I'm the least picky eater around (my kitchen is my favourite place and I have a short list of foods that are absolutely off-limits, but that's about it), but I do have a disability which means I can't really eat much, let alone without people. Not being able to share in such an important

Dang. I'm new to Top Chef, but I shouldn't be surprised - I actually saw this idea first on one of those British Masters cooking competitions, and it was fine. But, generally speaking, they're a hell of a lot more stoic than in American reality TV.

Man, I hate it when people equate vegetarian with health. It's such a huge pet peeve of mine, and I hated seeing it parroted here — it really depends on your diet, not meat being excluded. I know a lot of people think they can lose weight on a vegetarian diet before then living on pasta and cheese, which

Yeah, I gotta agree with you. The constant descriptions of food as being soulful and truly southern (or at least how I perceive them to be; I could rewatch and discover something entirely different) leaves me hungering for a proper description of the food itself, and a little variety. Having southern food as a focus

I was going to say basically the same thing as Roc Kit in a less articulate way! It's not exactly amazing television, and knowing that and enjoying the hell out of it makes it more enjoyable for me — kind of like how when I watch CW's superhero shows, I'll say I'm watching my soaps.

Not at all a bad thing! Please do keep it up; I haven't been commenting but I've been enjoying reading others' thoughts, including yours. Top Chef's a really fun guilty pleasure!

I'm with you there! Whenever best movies come up, all I can think of are the stunning animated ventures that were put out this year. Even when Kubo's story didn't jive with me at parts, I didn't even care because of how utterly breathtaking the visuals are.

Thanks for listening!

I think that there was a way to write the role in a way that didn't fall into same old stereotypes. Even if its roots and basis are in stereotypes, writing is their job, and I do believe that they could have worked it decently.

I think that if they had given it to an old Asian woman, they absolutely would have received some criticism, but I think they would have heard praise as well for subverting the trope and allowing a woman be the wise one instead in addition to casting an older woman. Either way, they would have made bank, because

I disagree. I don't think whitewashing was the best option available. Whitewashing is very rarely the best option available. I understand why others think so, but it's not a stance that I'll ever be swayed to myself. We're just so underrepresented in cinema, and all this is saying is that profit is more important

I don't think that's unfair — I think you're just approaching it from a different direction. I don't mean that we shouldn't confront uncomfortable things, but if you do so, you'd better have a good reason for doing so, even if that reason is "I think I can make a really fucking funny joke", and that reason's going to

While Margaret Cho does come off worse here (c'mon, don't spill people's private shit, especially misrepresented), Tilda Swinton doesn't exactly come of smelling of roses either. Either way, it's depressing that they whitewashed the role and that they didn't… you know, just take a different approach. I feel like if

The difference here is that the Ancient One was originally conceived as an Asian character, so it wouldn't be forced in; they actively made the change from an Asian character to a white one. And while women get less screentime… white women do happen to get most of it. Asian actors and actresses are hugely

It's gotten wretched. I follow a few food pages on Facebook and this poor woman whose profile picture was of her in a hijab posted about, you know, the recipe.

Neo-Nazis - oh, I'm sorry, the alt-right - use the triple parentheses online around people's names to denote whether or not they're Jewish. A lot of us started putting them around our own damn names as rebellion against that, but there you have it.

This has been a wonderful year to be a comic book fan. As an old DC fan, I've been beyond pleased with the output of Rebirth — Wonder Woman was a standout to me, as was a back to basics Batman in addition to some oddballs (hi, Doom Patrol, welcome back!) and some comics that probably aren't objectively great, but I

Oh my goodness, I had no idea that more Yotsuba was being written. Thank you for spreading the good word! You've just made my day.
