He actually has a point. In the Army, you can discipline by making a soldier do push-ups. In the Navy, that is considered hazing and whoever ordered the push-ups is going to be the one facing disciplinary measures.

I think the “things are worse today” sentiment is one of the very few things that gets bipartisan agreement. While I don’t doubt some things are “worse,” others are also “better.” Sure, I can only speculate as to the volume and magnitude of respective changes, my underlying assumption is that the net change is zero.
