Nuance and context aren’t really the forte of the movement for this, it’s more a machete than a surgical knife— this episode is going to be pulled at some point.

one of these removed shows came out 5 years ago, and the avclub writer (who apparently stopped writing here in april) talked about how great it was and how it satirized white liberals trying too hard to be woke
That’s such a better approach. Most gestures like this one seem to basically come down to white people wanting to gentrify history in order to absolve themselves of all past wrongdoing, but trying to erase the past does no one any favors. Just keep the episode, but include a disclaimer. Even Disney Plus does that shit!
I think the Tom and Jerry DVDs did it right with the Whoopi Goldberg disclaimer. It gave proper context for the stereotypes and basically said that if we pretended use of these stereotypes never existed, then we're basically pretending racism never existed.
Exactly, now satire of racism is off limits? Guess we need to jus burn every copy of “Blazing Saddles”!
Acting like it never happened is not a step in the right direction.
“Don’t you see that the whole aim of Newspeak is to narrow the range of thought? In the end we shall make thoughtcrime literally impossible, because there will be no words in which to express it.”
With all due sympathy for people who’ve experienced prejudice or trauma, I think we need a discussion about how far it’s appropriate to go in the name of not triggering people.
Regarding your chosen screenshot, perhaps you underestimate the level of thirst many adult women (and some adult men!) feel toward Jason Momoa. ;)
I like it but the bullet travels so slowly you can literally dodge it when you hear it go off.
My boys 6 and 9 were going absolutely crazy this morning. I’ve never seen them this excited including Christmases and Disneyland. “DAD I GOT EATEN BY A SHARK!!!!!!!!!!”
Since the UK went in to lockdown I’ve been playing Fortnite with friends all over the country as a way to stay in touch. It took a while to convince them (‘it’s a kids game,’ etc, etc), but now they’re SUPER in to it. We’ve all been kinda hyped for S3 and are all getting ready to give it a decent whirl. It’s made…
PubG was the number 1 but it isn’t accessible, that means something else would always take its spot.
The hunting rifle has been unvaulted
LOL Trust me been there with my nephews plenty of times. I tried explaining the concept of ARMA 2/3 to them they just said I was boring and old lol. I actually did LOL, literally, at that Notch comment tho.
My nephew makes fun of me for playing it, which is a real burn from a 10-year-old. He’s more of a Minecraft kid, though every time he asks me about Notch I just kind of change the subject...
I felt the event was actually really well done. They put a ton of work into it, and my daughter and I both really enjoyed it. Plus there was a shark!
Yeah, the map itself is largely the same (at least for now) but I like the water look! I assume we’ll see other changes when the new season starts. This feels pretty standard for end-of-season events to me? If I recall right they usually have some teasers for what’s to come but no giant shakeups until the new season…
Technically, the season runs until the 17th, so additional changes might not happen until then.
Hope you all looked around that office, especially the files on the desk.
