I love how people are acting as if this is govt. surveillance. When you donate, the fec makes damn sure that you know your name and address will be broadcast for all to see. 

I don’t get the uproar. The names are effectively on a searchable public excel spreadsheet. People are crying out that this is as if someone hacked them.

Difference here is that the naacp is a private action committee (PAC) structure which does shield donors from public scrutiny. 

The site is public. People who donated to any campaign have their names writ large.

My guess is they got Slashdott- err.. Splintered. Their website couldn’t handle the influx of half the population of America accessing their site. The US government’s IT infrastructure is pretty bad and old.

Then don’t put your name and address on a public facing site. Do the google-fu and scrub your name from sites across the planet.
