Only 7 weeks till the days start getting longer again! True, you won’t really notice it for another 6 weeks or so, but still....I try to focus on that. I hate the early darkness more than the cold weather. And I really hate the cold.

Aw, but I make the best sort of friend: I keep ghosts away!
you must must must look into the novel Trumpet by Jackie Kay.
Hi, folks. I know it’s a long shot at this later hour, but I wonder whether any of you can provide me with some film or literary references on the FTM trans experience beyond Boys Don’t Cry and Middlesex.
Super shit news: this week I found out I have cancer.
There are some really great scarf-y shawls out right now. I did something like this at an event a few weeks ago. People could still see my dress but I wasn’t freezing.
I used to have a job where I cleaned offices. The top guy (I forget what his title was) would wink at me EVERY time I cleaned his office, or if I saw him around the building....but only if there was no one else around.
A wink is best deployed when sharing a joke with someone in a group setting. Sometimes one of my colleagues will wink across a meeting room at me, it’s always to indicate an in joke or something stupid an attendee has said.
I’ve never been able to.
At the time he had just finished accusing of her of saying something she didn’t say. She informed him she did not say that. He then told her it’s not what you say but what you mean and winked (?) at her as he said it which seems especially condescending in context at least to me.
I think men winking at women in serious or professional environments is pure sexist condescension. Especially when they’re mansplaining something when they do it.
No! It was I, his evil twin!
My best friend in the whole world is a woman who’s mother committed suicide 20 years ago. There is not a single day that goes by that my friend doesn’t think about her mom. Holidays are especially hard for her. And it;s been two decades.
I have Midwestern super strain head lice.
I’m pretty upset with how Jezebel readers are being so incredibly dismissive and actually shitty about this.
Nursing is a predominantly female occupation and as such has routinely been dismissed as a less than vocation for exactly that reason. We have to fight to be taken seriously ALL the time. I get shitty comments…
I too have a Timex Indiglo with a leather band. Alas, not the original braided leather band, because I wore it through, but it is still an excellent watch.
Who here still wears a watch??? It’s not that weird for someone youngish to be wearing a watch, is it?
I would totally give her the full spectrum of beliefs, and let her figure it out. Don't answer for her — 6 year olds are curious sceptics, and I've found it best not to assume to much about the inspiration for their scepticism. Or their curiosity. Just make sure she has all the room, and information, she needs.
Nars Dragon Girl was one I tried and liked. I currently own Annabella in their Audacious line. So good!!
Back in 2001 I worked at Bath and Body Works at Lenox Mall in Atlanta, GA when Whitney and Bobby came in. Whitney bought over $600 of candles and lotions. Bobby picked out one thing - a fishbowl full of small orange goldfish shaped glycerine soaps. He wanted every single one we had for his daughter. I can’t stop…
