Today is my better half’s birthday, so instead of being antisocial I’m stuck having dinner with about ten members of her family. She’s already looked at me twice and quietly said “I just want to go home.” We’re a pretty good introverted couple.

I decided today that I’m really sick and this is all a fever dream. It has to be, I still can’t accept that it’s real.

I’ve always been that mouthy girl who spoke up and fought back—its cost me many times—but this is what I want for our young women—to be fearless—to know they are important and that they can stand for what they believe in without being afraid. I’m grateful to see it happening in my lifetime.
