I’m a man and I’m definitely on the shorter side - around 5'6 or 5'7. I appreciate someone writing in support of us short kings, but I also feel the need to say that there’s absolutely nothing wrong with someone having a physical preference that includes height. I’ve definitely had a bit of a harder time dating

The author referred to the broader topic - heteronormativity - which is gender stereotyping which includes toxic masculinity.

I just don’t get why “A Little Life” gets keep getting calls “the great gay novel” when most of the characters don’t identify as gay and none of them act like a man who sleeps with a man you’ve ever met in your entire life. 800 pages of torture porn that eventually starts to become comical.

This article seems to presuppose, without evidence, that much of the book reading (and even reviewing) public knows a lot of information about how Hanya Yanagihara lives her day-to-day life.

Can’t we agree that, while “cancel culture” isn’t the widespread scourge that its critics claim it is, that it’s also not a myth or “provably false” because some shitty celebrities still have careers?

No trolling intended here — but is this so bad?

Unpopular opinion: schools should be the last thing to close. If we can still dine in restaurants, go to the gym, go on fucking cruises, schools should remain open. The cost - to kids, to parents and especially working mothers - is too high. Europe closed schools far less than the US and still the academic costs were

I’ve mentioned it here before, but this seems like a prime moment to weigh in as a cishet woman whose spouse came out as gay after we’d been married for ten years.

What an odd piece with a lot of ambiguity. Without more info, it sounds like the author married a cishet man knowing they were queer, and presumably with him knowing they were queer, and then the author resented that arrangement for not letting them be “queer” enough despite fully knowing that’s not how queerness

I mean that trailer you linked literally says it’s inspired by Céline Dion but thanks for cracking the case.

You mean, they should be embarrassed by the review that in which they said Kidman was very good but hamstrung by the preoccupations that Sorkin forced on the movie as a whole, as encapsulated in the accompanying headline?

At the very least they can keep federal student loan rates at zero. I continued to pay on mine (though I had to call them to resume payments, which was a pain in the ass) during the pandemic forgiveness period and it’s the first time I’ve ever been able to make significant progress paying them off. With no interest, I

Interest forgiveness sounds good. I have a former colleague who went to college in the worst way and now has around $180,000 in student loans for a bachelors degree in English.

I also think that Javier Bardem is miscast. As good of an actor as he is, he sounds nothing like Desi (in the trailer) and only bears a passing resemblance.

Nicole Kidman and Javier Bardem are both great. But they seem completely miscast.

Seriously? Since the day I first saw Chris Cuomo on CNN I couldn’t believe the network was willing to set itself up for this absurdly blatant conflict of interest. This outcome was entirely foreseeable to anyone with half a functioning brain. As for what Chris did, no I do not think most people would lie to the

I always wonder how much they actually do. I feel like rich people always say they’re “exhausted”’from planning parties. But the reality is some assistant just peawnrs

Despite the generally positive reception stateside, the Biden Administration’s pursuit of COVID booster shots, first announced in August, has been met with criticism from international public health experts, some of whom question the move amidst global vaccination disparities between rich and poor countries. “We’re
