Usually in these hearings, Senators try to ask questions in a roundabout way to pin the nominee down. For example, abortion is based on the right to privacy, so historically nominees would be asked questions about privacy. This time, Democrats are asking the most basic and forward questions about really simple topics

I’ve been ducking in and out of the Barrett hearing news—my sanity can only take so much—but my impression is that she has all but refused to actually answer a single question of consequence. Am I off base?  I feel like she wouldn’t even commit to a favorite color on the record.

My pleasure! I love book recommendations myself!

Don’t worry, I am an incorrigible Grumpy Old Lady! I just found that cast oddly charming and felt they did their best, bless their hearts.

I know! Nala has now visited something like 16 countries in her basket on Dean’s bike. Every decision he makes is with her needs at the top of the list. He has made friends all over Europe because of Nala. It’s fair to say that rescuing her changed his life.

All you need to see to sense Truffaut’s sensitivity toward people is that shot of the children watching the Punch & Judy show.  It’s just lovely.

This needs to be narrated by Werner Herzog.

Have you seen Netflix doc, Catwalk: Tales From the Cat Show Circuit? So, so, so good.

It’s the great overlooked classic from the HBO golden age. It’s not like anything else on TV - it’s basically intense, 30-minute two-handers in a single room*, almost all talking - so I know some people won’t be able to get into it, because it’s not what they want from TV. Another thing to keep in mind that makes the narrator more interesting:

Read it, it’s a fantastic book and a good introduction to Du Maurier’s style. Also check out ‘The Parasites’ and ‘The Scapegoat’.

He’s certainly one of many. Ever since I watched HBOs “Parade’s End,”I always picture Benedict Cumberbatch. I mean, Maxim deWinter is basically Chrissy Tietjens except his Sylvia died, mostly.

Hear me out: Ben Whishaw as Maxim. That’s it. That’s my whole argument.

FIONA SHAW I’M SO IN

The Office is one of those shows I have in constant rotation, along with Parks & Rec and Living Single. It’s just comforting to have around, and Michael’s final “That’s what she said” will always make me tear up.

Cut this shit out. She is a teenager in a dysfunctional family. You are compounding her anguish. Just stop.
