who the fuck cares? it was her jewelry, she owned it, and she is entitled to wear it wherever the fuck she pleases. it is not a reason that she should be robbed and menaced and caused to be in fear for her life.

“Well groomed” as in she was not raised to the exacting standards (of many old money WASP families in particular) to be the perfect model of an erudite, proper, lady-who-lunches. You won’t hear breathless articles in Vogue about her precipitated with flowery descriptions of her advanced degree in Insert Obscure…
oh, shut up. you hate them, you tell us you hate them at every fucking opportunity, and we all know it and i am sick of hearing about it. this is not the time to go all infowars on her. something bad happened to her, it’s not her fault and you can just settle down for a while.
I don’t really mind the people who think it’s fake. This is a woman who got married for public attention. If somebody doubts her sincerity, it’s probably because they have existed in society sometime this decade.
No. That’s a reductive and shameful straw man fallacy.
Thank you. Some of the comments I’ve seen, on Jez alone are repulsive and whatever self-righteous keyboard warrior is hiding behind them needs a good long look in the mirror. I hope they never report a crime only to be doubted.
Snotty elitist fashion people shit on Kim, a noted Not Rail Thin Well Groomed Sorbonne Educated White Woman.
Newsflash: people deeply involved in fashion tend to be contemptible. I know, it’s shocking.
You mean: more flippant remarks here in Jezebel’s comment section. Ugh people.
Yes, exactly. This isn’t the kind of shit you casually lie about for publicity, unless you have some DEEP issues, which in Kim’s case would already be apparent due to how much time she spends in the limelight.
Yeah, I’m kinda shocked Jezebel of all places would announce that she was afraid of being raped-well duh.
Rant: I never thought I would say this considering its Kim K, but I don’t think this was faked for “attention whoring”. Say what you will about her but my gut tells me this isn’t the kind of shit she’d lie about fur attention. Robberies DO happen, and when you consider someone of her wealth this is a reality that has…
Having watched the first episode, it didn’t feel to me that the sexual violence was there to be titillating - it was there to be horrible. Thinking on it a little further, in the first episode there is a LOT of violence, all towards robots, and not much of it felt like it was supposed to be titillating.
I went into the pilot very concerned about that specific issue based on the way HBO has handled other shows (The Sopranos and the first several seasons of GoT), and came away feeling far less concerned. If anything, Westworld reminds me most of the Battlestar Galactica reboot, in terms of its treatment of violence and…
Yes. There are human women in both management and rank and file at the company that runs WestWorld, and there are human women who buy tickets to WestWorld, though so far we have not seen much of the latter. There is definitely a sense that WestWorld has a strong appeal to wealthy men who want to murder, steal and rape…
Are you kidding? Have you ever been more than 200 miles away from the coast? Because there are like forty states where “cowboy” is the default style/lifestyle.
A few things:
Not to mention the sheer impossibility of doing a fantasy theme park with another fictional brand—the rights alone would be a nightmare.
Why are you assuming that you have to be a straight white dude to have a cowboy fantasy? Just because all the cowboys of the time were (presumably) straight white dudes, or that has been their traditional depiction in other mediums, why should Westworld be restrained by actual history. Why shouldn’t anyone be able…
It all depends on whether the robot exists as an entity with its own subjective experiences.
