One of the best most emotionally impactful scenes in recent anime history tbh. By the time that scene happens at the end of the second episode you’re already so emotionally invested in the kid that you can’t help but cry your eyes out too when he hears those words from his hero. Shit gives me chills every time!

Bottom line: Ease of accessibility. Beyond that: High skill ceiling but anyone can play even if they suck and still enjoy themselves. Took a pre-existing formula and made it more generally appealing. Free to play. Skins. Bright colours. Sound effects like a slot machine. Well optimized.
