Yep. But is a remake part of the nostalgia? Not really.

Apart from the name, what really is worth salvaging from the original when you take out the original setting, cast and chemistry?

It’s not just his performance but his choices. He’s choosing smaller, more interesting roles. He’s going to battle to get those roles. He’s not bothered about his screen persona. He just wants to do interesting work.

Think it’s partly the fact that he usually produces original works. so you never know what you’re going to get. Add to that the occasional twist, and it’s enticing to get people to cinemas. Then there’s the hope that this could be the return to form.

Surely Violent Night, Holey Night. And this time, he had to protect the North Pole from a home invasion.

Again, the ‘other-ness’ doesn’t have to be fully supernatural. It could be heightened reality (Halloween he survives being shot) or pushing boundaries of social norms (Chainsaw does this, Lambs with the cannibalism).

I mean, you could probably write almost the same article and replace horror with comedy, action, animation. Oscar likes drama. They like subtext to be a little less sub and a little more in your face.

For me, horror movies either need to deal in the supernatural / unreel (the ‘other’), or have characters driven by hate and evil (so slashers, etc). But, obviously there are grey areas like serial killer movies.

The new Host had some great jump scares. Also, think it’s the granny of the cupboard in the Conjouring. Great bait and switch one

Think it;s like Poirot’s mustache. It’s comical and disarming. People underestimate him right away which puts him on a better footing

Love Life is great and is available on both BBC IPlayer and Netflix in the UK.

Denzel Washington’s son. Pretty disrespectful to an actor that already has a Golden Globe nomination under his belt and starred in a huge box office hit.

Can we stop it with the ‘early review’ tweets. They tell us nothing. Seen so many glowing ‘early reviews’ turn into crappy films.

Agree. How it ranks higher than Minority Report is mindboggling.

Jaws at 1. Raiders at 2. Last Crusade much higher up. Minority Report also top 10 and considerably better than War of the Worlds.

cosplaying as a 45-year-old on her press tours” Thank God Im not the only one who thought she dresses like Sarah Palin.

Love to see him reboot it all with a 52 series.

Haha. It was - meant to say or something stupid but I’m now sticking with Emperor of Something Stupid.

Reckon they’ll go GoT/LOTR prequel direction - make trilogy of films set hundreds of years before all the Star Wars movies - with the final twist being that the hero turns out to be the emperor of something stupid.

Think you could lose 1 or 2 of the cast and continue - though the season with Dennis popping in and out didn’t really work. But feel that was because they were trying to fit the story around him going missing. if they just decided to write stories around 3/4 of the group each week, instead of trying to fit them all
