Yeah, they used the Hindu monkey god, Hanuman, as the name for the Wakandan ape god (the line was even bleeped in India to avoid offending Hindus). I have no idea why they used Hanuman; in the comics the god is Ghekre, which is an actual African deity (though West African rather than East).
