I don’t like either solution, but the screen has more surface area. Something small can make it under the halo’s bars and still strike the driver. With either solution, something could pop over the top and hit the driver. Don’t expect miracles.

I’m surprised this still happens with today’s tech. One of the trains must have been switched onto the wrong track many miles before they met. There should have been enough time to detect this problem and sent emergency signals to stop one or both of them.
