I remember after bin Laden died the comment boards were filled with comments about how deplorable it was that people would celebrate the death of anyone, regardless of how that person lived. It’s kind of fascinating, actually.

yeah, who invited these commentators in here? Just cause your house got burned down doesn’t mean you get to shit all over mine...

I’m glad to see the spirit of Gawker lives on.

Oh brother

It seems like some children who grow up in a somewhat rule free environment swing to the more conservative side when it comes to parenting their progeny. Kim and Kourt are super strict and when I hear about their childhood after their parents divorced it’s like night and day compared to Kris’s freerange style. hmmm

Good we’re doing something, but Canada - with 1/10 our population - welcomed 25,000 refugees. And people were lining up to host them. I’m sure there are plenty of Americans who understand what Christian charity actually means and would open their hearts and homes.

I’ll probably watch it on some pirating site so he doesn’t get any money. Although I heard there’s a rape scene in it where there’s no historical evidence of it happening, so I’ll admit watching a rapist use rape as a plot device isn’t going to be great.

“Parker also admitted that when he wrote the initial Facebook post, a whole two weeks ago, he, “never took a moment to think about the woman.”

“I myself just learned that the young woman ended her own life several years ago and I am filled with profound sorrow,” Parker wrote.

Also he’s pretty much admitting to the rape here:

Not even getting a girl to say yes! He’s basically saying as long as she wasn’t actively resisting he’d go for it. Which, it turns out, IS STILL RAPE.

“Parker also admitted that when he wrote the initial Facebook post, a whole two weeks ago, he, “never took a moment to think about the woman.”

Fucking ugh.

I’ve heard it’s a good movie.

I saw a really interesting exchange pertaining exactly to this on the comments section of the NYT article this morning. A black man commented to say that this was all a smear campaign, conspiracy, etc. A black woman replied, mentioning that it’s important to believe rape victims...to which the man immediately

Ahaha that spot on! Meanwhile Spike Lee is freaking Spike Lee, Ryan Coogler getting that Marvel money, Ava Duvernay is setting up to slay the game on TV with Queen Sugar and is doing a Wrinkle in Time adaption and Steve McQueen I’m sure is living his best life. But yes sure all the poc directors are being targeted.

Strong non sequitur there. I never suggested that Parker be tried again or even that he be held to any account actually. My question was why a purportedly feminist site that frequently excoriates accused rapists is being so careful with its handling of this particular case. If you look through my comments, you’ll see

I’m sorry, but his statement sounds so disingenuous. The fact that he keeps emphasizing his innocence instead of focusing on the tragedy of this woman’s suicide is just frustrating. By referring to himself as a “father of daughters” and a “person of faith,” he continues to depict a morally superior version of himself,

“I’m profoundly sorry I’m getting called on my shit and may experience slight discomfort my shite behavior has been exposed to the world”
