Superbad came out the week I graduated high school, so it holds a soft spot for me (half of my class went to see it after graduation practice and we were so inspired by the movie, we all went to someone’s house and got teenaged drunk on shitty beer at 5 pm on a Thursday. One of my favorite memories). Yeah, some parts

YES, thank you! Trust me, I’m the last person to side with Swift (I find her brand of White Feminism to be extremely cringe-worthy), but what she did for Kesha was IMO very generous (even if it was possibly a PR stunt b/c she kept getting called out for not doing/saying anything, but w/e it helps Kesha). But did that

Jezebel says: Men should be seen, not heard

I read something once that said “if Demi Lovato weren’t famous, she’d be that Sephora manager who needs an attitude adjustment” and I just...I haven’t been able to get over such a perfect way to describe her.

Yep. All you need to do is look at the whole Kesha thing where she ranted and raved about Taylor Swift not helping Kesha out. Then it turned out that Taylor had given Kesha money and support yet Demi went off on her for not giving enough and wanting to know why Taylor and others weren’t going to Capitol Hill.

I’ve worked as a legal editor for five years (five years today, actually. fml.) which means I look at ads like this all day. Doesn’t matter if I’m dealing with a brand new copywriter or an industry veteran. People think they can just take shit. Pictures, names, logos, on and on. Advertisers are completely taken aback

IMO, “I hate drama” either means “I am scared of people that emote” or “I want to gaslight you and not be called out on it.”

It’s a cynical campaign designed to get Sesame Street to bring legal action and generate public interest and visibility. The use of the word positive there is intentional. This is similar to the GoldieBlox thing from a few years ago.

Have a crazy weekend, did ya?

It was a play on words. They’re pretending Bert is dumb and thinks “positive” means “optimistic” or “all good” but in reality it means Ernie tested “positive” which means he has HIV/STIs.

I learned recently that when referring to STD/STI tests you aren’t supposed to refer to yourselves as “clean” anymore because of the connotations it has for someone who tested positive for STD/STI”s (unclean) and it made me realize how thoughtless language can be. I recognize how little this has to do with your

Please stop trying to sexualize characters that were created to have the psychological profiles of a 6 (Bert) and 4 (Ernie) year old, because that is intensely creepy and not OK. Thanks.

It’s pretty shoddy advertising - what do Bert and Ernie have to do with the tagline “out of the stoneage”? Why not use Fred and Barney from the Flintstones if you’re going balls to the wall with unlicensed material. Yeah, this was slapped together to get publicity knowing it would be quickly taken down. That, or

Testing positive is good in an STD test?

Demi Lovato is one of the worst “I’m not dramatic” drama queens. She’s such a 2nd/3rd tier celebrity, I’m mostly convinced she’s doing whatever she can to get attention to move up the celebrity food chain.

Also, they know that a “positive” test means they were implying that Ernie has a VD (is that the term we use today or is it still STD?) and was ignorant about the results, which, uh, yeah can be seen as “tarnishing.”

Sent from my son onboard:

Mately has now gotten more press than they ever would have normally, so their tactic was a success.

Demi is reading way too much into this. Nicki just plain had no idea who the fuck you were girl!

Lovato is that girl we all know who tries to always come across as the innocent victim, when really she’s the most passive-aggressive drama queen ever. See: her stay in rehab to allegedly deal with an eating disorder and being bullied, when it turns out she was a raging cokehead mean girl bully herself.
