In 2015, MLB generated $9.5 billion in revenue. The average MLB salary was $3.39 million.
In 2013, the NFL generated nearly the same in revenue: $9 billion. The average NFL salary that year was $1.9 million.

If I were Terrance Gore and I had six MLB plate appearances over a span of two years and a World Series ring to show for it, I’d be clinging to that, too.
