Your (justifiable) disdain of the weird sentimentality of Cubs fans notwithstanding, the crying isn’t about the stadium. I don’t really miss standing in a mixture of beer and urine while in line to get a sausage and peppers on a stale bun at Shea Stadium, but knowing I’m not going to step into a place again where I…
I’m going to tack onto this: When the stadium/arena you grew up rooting in shuts down. I balled at the final game of Shea, and teared up on my way out of the Nassau Coliseum (which I presumed was for the last time LOL).
Pretty awesome of you. Your best friend is lucky to have you!
+1 Cinco de Mayo rager
Take all my damn stars. Just take them!
“At least it probably feels a little easier when three different goats can share the blame. Bill Buckner never had that luxury.”
Mets fan here. Slide was incredibly clean. Harrison is a class act. I think that everyone involved with the Mets right now is just incredibly frustrated.
As a Mets fan, I have no choice but to get on board with this.
JJ! Sweet, lovely JJ. I ALWAYS THOUGHT I WAS ALONE! As a kid, I would sing the chorus to “I Just Called to Say I Love You,” and then seamlessly transition into “Feliz Navidad.” Maybe we are long lost cousins or something.
Vader was fantastic. I was a WWF loyalist, but whenever we took our weekend morning trip to our local lotto/card store for the paper, my dad used to buy me Pro Wrestling Illustrated. So I always saw these images of Vader even before he got to WCW, and then enjoyed seeing him on some of WCW’s programming (I watched WCW…
The Islanders aren’t “stuck” at Barclays Center. They’re playing 20 games at Nassau Coliseum this season, likely more the next two seasons after that, then they move into a brand new arena at Belmont Park.
Except no. The players want to play at the Coliseum. That’s why they announced eight more games there than they planned on playing. If all goes well, they’ll probably play all their games there in the subsequent two seasons until Belmont opens. So calm down. If you’re an Islanders fan and you’re not optimistic today,…
Actually, they play on Long Island.
Every match has an agent that is assigned to a match that helps shepherd it through. The agent goes through some of the points that creative (in WWE’s case, Vince and his writing staff) want to get across. The wrestlers and the agent usually come up with the “story” the match will tell and the finish of the match. In…
Yeah, as someone who has met and worked with Terry Collins, there’s nothing really shithead about him. Good guy. Cares. And for being in a rage, it’s actually pretty clear to understand his gripe: He’s mad MLB did nothing to punish Chase Utley, and he thinks the Mets should be given a shot to retaliate.
Yup, I do that. My wife has a knee-jerk reaction to gasp, but I usually overpower it with safe or an, “Atta boy!”
This is 100 percent accurate.
Utley was not suspended for the final two games of the series. No punishment was handed down until the next season, and the suspension was subsequently dropped. In fact, Utley made the first out of bottom of the 9th in the Dodgers’ decisive Game 5 loss.
It sucked to lose, especially when they only stumble ass backwards into a deep playoff run every decade or so. But after my yelling at Mike Moustakas for yelling at Noah Syndergaard rage faded, I was happy that if the Mets had to lose, it was to that Royals team.
