It was Pouilly Fumé. I'm curious if they had these plot lines worked out from the beginning, or if they're just making them up as they go along. I hope at least they had them planned from the beginning of season 2. I won't be surprised to hear some day that they had no idea what they were doing during season 1.

It's about time - or past time really - for Renard to explain to Nick who he is, and for them to work together against the big European conspiracy, whatever it is. I sure hope they don't keep us waiting all year on this one. It's OK with me if they wait until the season end for Nick's mother to return to save the day,

I like it and look forward to it. And there are some hopeful signs that they know what they're doing more than last year. See Alan Sepinwall's article when the season started about 6 weeks ago, just following the Olympics.

I think I've forgotten the chef you mean by "that crazy asshole chef", though I do remember his behavior. I think people who don't like it want a thrill and a simpler plot line per episode. Although there are a lot of non-procedural shows around nowadays, even those usually have a more clearly-defined (i.e. simpler) plot that can be summed up more straightforwardly with suspense building to resolution. This show has great

I first saw him (or remember him, anyway) as a vindictive cop from House whom he played for the better part of a season. Much nicer guy here.

Why is Wallander on PBS (Masterpiece Mystery) not even mentioned under "What Else is On"? Why isn't it reviewed, for that matter? It's an outstanding series, starring one of the greatest living stage and screen actors, Kenneth Branagh. AV Club reviews a lot of crap shows, so-called reality shows and other muck, as
