Exactly what’s happening with PvE side of Fortnite, it already started slowly, once it took some momentum with updates and polishing (although the large majority of added content so far was already present in the alpha) Fortnite BR came out and the PvE side started slowing down again with updates.

If you want to customize appearance from time to time be ready to open your wallet, that system is awful and created to make you spend more than needed: every gear slot has its own appearance slot so you can use a costume with stats (it takes time and resources to get the stats you want, you can’t craft every costume)…

Except with MTG you get something of value, be it high or low; with lootboxes in ANY game on the face of the earth you technically get nothing, because all EULA out there explicitly say you don’t own anything related to your account, they’re lending you all the stuff and can take it away at any moment for any reason.
