Had pretty much zero effect on pop culture at the time, but a little book called A Game of Thrones came out that year

The sandsnake with the whip always reminded me of this SNL sketch:

It's like saying they should write a Game of Thrones where the kingdoms all form a parliament and vote to negotiate with the white walkers, who then agree to stay north of the wall
The granddaddy of all these is definitely Winston Churchill's "If Lee Had Not Won the Battle of Gettysburg" (not a typo) which was written in 1931 about an "alternative" history where the South had lost. Churchill had already averted the trope in 1931 by reversing it, writing from the perspective of Lee's victory…
One little thing that I like about this show that they seemed to have kind of let go was at the end of each episode where you'd see the small change in the timeline.
I was kind of hoping that the cumulative effects of these small changes would eventually have some sort of effect on their surrounding world.
Can't remember which Burly story but: "The poster on his office wall said 'Do It Tomorrow'. He got it at a flea market for just five cents because it was bad advice"
